The first day of online class and it was quite exciting in its own ways. For today we basically just had a breakdown of our class module and all of our future projects. There were a lot of projects that we would be taking on within a few weeks and I can't say I'm fully looking forward to the heavy workload.
Speaking of projects, we were also briefed on our first project of this class called I Am Amplifier. Based on my understanding from the brief, this project requires us to design a moving typographic poster that is very closely reminiscent of a protest sign as we were advised to avoid using convoluted and metaphorical words that might be hard to interpret. Instead, we were encouraged to use more understandable and simple words but still has a heavy meaning behind it- but without all the confusing deciphering.
We were given some examples as shown in the pictures above and learning about it was quite a refreshing change as I've never really done any projects that relate quite strongly to politics in one way or another. We were also given a small discussion time in the last picture where we discuss what these photos have in common with each other and my answer was the one in the yellow text. I don't know if my answer made sense to other people but that is how I view most of the protest that uses a lot of graphics and illustration to get their point across.
