D E V E L O P M E N T

In this section, I'll be going through my script, and storyboard development

S C R I P T - D E V E L O P M E N T

Here are some of my script development pictures. I've revamped it around 5 times or so but the general outline is basically;

1. Social expectation of women

- Being obedient and submissive. And breaking apart from the norm is considered unfavourable.

2. Introduction to Sexual Revolution Movement

- Where it started

- What the aim of the movement was

3. Relate it to modern times

- How the movement relates to Digital Sex-work

- And what aspect of the movement can be used to show correlation

4. Survey questions

- Use a few survey questions to show how the respondents view sexual expression as a form of liberation

5. Conclusion

- Concluding thoughts on why the overall stance is positive, negative, or neutral

As for my final script outline, it finally came together after I've created a link between the movement and the survey questions to correlate it back to my part 2 topic, which is How Malaysians view digital sex-workers who creates pornographic and erotic content as an act of liberation.

One part of the script that I liked the most was comparing the gap that has shrunk between those who support sex-work and those who doesn't by linking it together with the question of whether sex-work is morally right or not.

Personally, I find the sentence can be quite confusing towards the viewers, but I tried my best to simplify it and make the comparison as clear as possible.

Overall, I do think the script looks a bit short, but certain parts of it is quite tiring to think about as I had to constantly rewrite it to make sense and fit with my idea of making this animation feel like a "storybook" or something of the sorts.

For my storyboard, I divided it into 3 parts.

1st Part - Intro:

This part of the animation is very straight forward and the drawings are meant to convey the scripts in an easy to understand way. For example, submissive = eyes. This is because I wanted to show the person's submissive nature through a blank unmotivated look.

Obedient = lips. Based on society's stereotype of women being the gender that likes to talk a lot more, I try to show a person's obedience through being quiet and closing their mouth when they're about to talk. Almost as if they can't talk without the other party's consent.

2nd part - The Sexual Revolution Movement

This section talks about the introduction of the sexual revolution movement. Its shown through protest board illustration. Afterwards, it'll go into its aim, which is freedom in sexual exploration and experimentation. Starting from this part, I used some symbolism / non-straightforward animation to reflect the script.

3rd part - Survey Questions

The survey questions use a mixture of graphs, pie charts and illustration to represent the data.

Final part - Closing Thoughts

The closing thoughts is conveyed purely through text, as I didn't really know how to animate my short closing thoughts into some creative drawings or symbolism. Which lead me to just putting up a text.
