To get a feel on how we wanted the application to look, we browsed through some application UI samples.
We got inspired by the first two UI in terms of their app feel and font use. The UI feels very welcoming as the shapes they used are very free-flowing and non-rigid. Whereas the fonts used has a friendly feel to it as it looks very bubbly? and cute.
As for the last two, we got inspired by the mood metre interface as we think it's a great way to allow our users to log-in their daily mood. Which we subsequently added into our fifth section, which was the home section. We also used the UI samples as a reference on how we want to create the chat box feature of the hotline section and the journal section.
We also decided on the font types that we wanted to use and some colour choices.
Fonts:
Made sunflower and Mogena was our title and heading fonts. We chose these two because of their welcoming feel- which was the feeling that we wanted to emulate all throughout the app and our 4 Collaterals. As for Geosans, we mainly use said font for the introductory text in certain app sections. Whereas Louis George Cafe Light is used for the majority of body text as it has very clear readability.
Colour scheme:
For our colour scheme, we decided to go with pastel colours to give off a warm and friendly feel. And we chose yellow and green to represent both Digi and Befrienders respectively. At this point in the development, we were still tinkering around with the colour choices so we wouldn't have a set colour scheme for a bit.
4 Collaterals:
Since the application is the main show, we chose 4 different collaterals to create that would serve as the promotion for the app and the location. The 4 collaterals include:
1. A1 posters (Train stations, Information boards, Schools and universities)
- Places where people passes by e.g. train stations
- Information boards at schools and universities
2. Brochure/leaflet (Booths, student centre at education premises)
- Promotional booths and a place where students gather at education premises e.g. student centre
3. Social media ads (Instagram)
- A big social media platform that has a large number of teenagers-young adults as its userbase
4. Billboard design (LRT Stations, public transports)
- Place where a lot of people passes by and transportation that is used by our target audience
From here, we divided the workload evenly amongst ourselves and I chose to work on the Brochure collateral.
