For this week's class, we did a group activity where we were divided into 7 groups that consisted of 3 people each. Each group were to do research on the same articles which were survey research, designing effective questions & questionnaires, and qualitative interview techniques, and present our findings onto our own jamboards.
I chose the topic Designing Effective Questions & Questionnaire because I am planning to create a survey for a few of my assignments. The article itself was quite informative and covered a lot of basic information that I didn't know needed to be taken into account when designing a survey.
Some notable information was the usage of a matrix scale. A matrix scale helps to streamline response options for questions that sound similar while simultaneously reduce the number of neutral respondents- depending on the answer choices.
Matrix Scale
Matrix scale also utilizes the Likert scale for the answer choices to allow better navigation of a survey and easier data sorting.
Overall, creating a survey isn't exactly the hardest nor the easiest thing to do. But it is important to have a clear vision regarding what questions you want to ask, the outcome that you can expect, and ensuring that the flow of the questions given in the survey isn't too confusing or too boring for the people answering it!
